How to choose a pop-up drainage emitter

A pop-up drainage emitter is the daylight outlet for an underground drain line. Water backing up the pipe lifts the spring-loaded cap to release at the surface, then the cap drops closed to keep out grass clippings, mulch, and small animals between rains.

Match the emitter to your pipe: models here fit 3 in. and 4 in. drain pipe and 6 in. catch-basin outlets, and several include a slip elbow so the body sits flush in the lawn. Set the emitter at the lowest point where the line can daylight, and feed it with the right pipe and fittings upstream.
