How to choose step and deck lights
Step lights put a low, shielded wash of light right where feet land, on stair treads, deck edges, and along low walls, for safe footing after dark without glare in the eyes. An eyelid or louvered face aims the light down at the surface.
Mount step lights into a riser, post, or wall face, and keep the source shielded so you light the tread, not the viewer. Low-voltage LED fixtures in cast aluminum stand up to weather and foot traffic. Run them off the same low-voltage transformer as the rest of the system.
