How to choose drainage fittings

Drainage fittings connect, turn, and adapt the pipe in a yard drainage system. Wyes and tees branch a run, elbows route around obstacles, and adapters join dissimilar parts - corrugated pipe to a catch basin, a downspout to underground pipe, or a 3 in. to 4 in. transition.

Match the fitting to your pipe size and type, since solid PVC and corrugated HDPE use different connections. Slip (hub) fittings solvent-weld to PVC, while corrugated adapters snap or thread to flex pipe. Plan tees and wyes where lines meet, and finish the run with a pop-up emitter.
