How to Choose a Channel Drain

A channel (trench) drain is a long, narrow grated channel that captures sheet flow across driveways, patios, and pool decks — anywhere water runs off a wide hard surface. It collects along its whole length and carries water to an outlet at one end.

Pick a grate load class for the traffic (foot, vehicle, or heavy) and a channel width that matches your flow. Many systems are modular, so you can join sections to span the run and tie into your drain line with standard fittings.
