How to choose well lights

Well lights (in-ground up lights) sit flush in the grade and throw light straight up, so the fixture stays hidden and the eye sees only the lit tree trunk, wall, or column. They are the clean choice where an above-ground fixture would be in the way or in view.

Look for sealed brass or bronze housings and a gasketed lens, since the fixture sits in wet ground; many here use a replaceable MR16 LED lamp so you can change beam angle and output later. A narrow beam grazes a tall trunk; a wider flood covers a broad wall. Size a transformer to the total load.
