How to Choose a Sprinkler Timer

A sprinkler timer, also called a hose timer, threads between your spigot and hose to water on a schedule automatically. Mechanical dial timers run a single duration after you turn them on; digital and Bluetooth or Wi-Fi timers handle multiple start times, days, and durations.

Match the outlet count to the number of zones you want to run independently, and check the timer’s minimum operating pressure. Some won’t open at low flow. Combine a timer with a manifold to schedule several hoses from one bib.
