How to choose a raised garden bed

A raised garden bed gives you better drainage, warmer soil, and a defined growing space that keeps paths and lawn separate from the planting. Modular metal beds bolt together in different shapes and heights, so you size the bed to the spot and the crop.

Taller beds (the line here runs roughly 17 in. to 32 in.) ease back strain and suit deep-rooted crops, while shorter beds suit greens and herbs. Coated steel resists rust outdoors. Add a drip kit and a layer of landscape fabric underneath to control weeds and water efficiently.
