Floodlight

A landscape floodlight throws a wide beam to wash a broad surface with even light: a building facade, a wall, a hedge, or a wide tree canopy. Where a narrow up light grazes a single trunk, a flood covers the whole face.
Look for a sealed cast-aluminum housing and a frosted lens to soften hot spots and glare; the fixtures here are low-voltage with warm-white LED output (about 3000K) for a natural look. Aim the flood from a low angle to graze texture, and size a transformer to the total fixture load.
