Down lights mount high in a tree or on a structure and cast light downward to mimic moonlight over patios, paths, and lawns. Set well above eye level, they wash a soft, even pool of light without the glare of a ground fixture.
Match beam spread and lumens to the mounting height — higher mounts need a wider or brighter beam. Use shielded, hooded housings to cut glare, and size the transformer to the total load.
