How to Choose a Drip Controller or Timer

A drip timer runs your watering on a set schedule so beds and containers get consistent moisture while you’re away. Hose-end battery timers thread onto a spigot for a single zone; in-ground controllers drive valves for multiple drip zones.

Drip waters slowly, so run times are longer and less frequent than spray — many timers support multiple start times and short, frequent cycles for containers. Match the timer’s zone count to your number of drip control zones.
